For six weeks in Spring 2012 I was put under the guidance of Steve Coleman at Richmond Kettle Bells for the Men’s Health Six Pack Challenge. From the very first session it became apparent to him just how much hard work he had to do in order to whip his project into shape, and such was his dedication to the cause that he joined in with the diet and exercise regime. It meant we were in it together, which helped enormously when the going got tough!
The training involved four sessions a week of 2 hours, a mixture of weights in the gym and kettle bells outside. Steve was brilliant at keeping things fresh, finding new challenges and ways of training which was vital to keep motivation levels high. He kicked me when I felt idle, laughed at me when I got cross and encouraged me when I needed it most. He was a pleasure to be flogged by, and hopefully the pictures speak for themselves when it comes to proving that he knows what he’s doing.
What could have been a long hard slog became a real focus and a goal for us both. While I can’t say I enjoyed every minute, the overall experience was one that I am so glad to have taken part in – and that is predominantly down to the man who trained me. To Steve and your bloody (but mightily effective) Kettlebells, a huge thank you.
